Art Spheres

So, who loves a craft challenge? Me that's who. When I was asked to participate in a crafty "Iron Chef type Challenge" by Scribble Shop so I gladly accepted! Scribble Shop is an online craft store with over 75,000+ products available. I waited for my package in the mail like it was Christmas or something. Here is a little unveiling magic....

Then...

Then I shut the box and left it in my craft room for about 5 days haha... I just don't usually work with stuff like this, but then I realized that is what is so fun about the challenge. But seriously the glass marbles had me a little stumped.

What was in my box:
Metallic Stamp Pad, Dress it up Embellishments, Mod Podge, a Stencil, Raffia, Glass Gems, Paisley Shapes, Popsicle Sticks and Colored Pencils

My challenge was to make a craft with as many of the supplies as possible. So I decided to make an "art sphere collection" for my craft room. I think I did a pretty good job, I only left out the Raffia (which is smarter than I am apparently) and the Metallic Stamp (my stamp didn't work very well so I think I just got a lemon). I like to think I'm pretty creative but I really had to dig deep for this one ha! Here is what I came up with and how I did it:

Art Spheres:
I used kids "play balls" for the base of my art spheres.

Then I asked the hubs to cut my colored pencils and Popsicle sticks into little pieces.

Then I did what any normal crafter would and plopped myself in front of the TV with my glue gun. That's normal right? (bachelor anyone?) Let the glueing begin...
A few shows later...
candy wrappers and dress it up embellishments - colored pencilsPopsicle sticks - paisley stickers - stenciled fabric w/ this stencil and covered in mod podge - glass gems

I like them on a shelf or in a bowl.

And because TaylorMade readers are the best, Scribble Shop is also offering 15% off your total purchase for you from now until April 30th, just use the code TAYMADE at checkout, how cool is that? Be sure to check them out at:
Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus

So what would you have done with these "ingredients"? And someone tell me what you would have done with glass gems! Do you think the art spheres are weird (like my husband :) or would you put them in your craft room? Please share in the comments!

  5. I think these are so fun! I would definitely put them in a cute bowl in my craft room or office! :) When I see those marble things I always think of fish bowls... You know how they put them at the bottom of those tropical fish containers... :) Well done girlie!

  12. These are great Taylor and I would definitely have them in the fisherman's net hanging in my studio, or randomly on shelves, or in a basket, in there. The one made with glass pebbles would look great in a set of three different sizes displayed in my bedroom (tropical sailing theme). Now you have me thinking about what I can use to create something for my Mexican/Southwest theme living room. Thanks Taylor.

Oh yeah... I have no idea what I would make with the collection you received, but I'm already seeing sticks with rafia attached to the back with paisley felts adding decoration and displayed in a bed of pebbles... oh goodness, it would be so fun. Now I'm off to find out about the Scribble Shop.
